Frequently asked questions

How charter works with us: booking, pricing, safety and flight day. Missing something? Ask it in the notes of your quote request and your advisor will answer.

Booking

Are you an airline or an aircraft operator?

No. Best Private Jet Company is an air charter broker. We arrange your flight with an FAA Part 135 operator, or a foreign equivalent, that holds operational control of the aircraft. The operator is named on your quote and on the charter agreement before you pay.

Is there a membership fee or deposit before I can see prices?

No. Requesting a quote is free and does not commit you to anything. Payment is only due once you choose an option and sign the charter agreement.

How far ahead should I book?

For holidays, ski season and big events, earlier is better because the best-suited aircraft book up first. Shorter-notice trips are often possible; availability decides.

Can you arrange one-way, round-trip and multi-city trips?

Yes. Choose the trip type in the form. For multi-city trips, list the other legs and dates in the notes and we will price the whole itinerary.

Pricing

What does an all-in quote include?

Flight time, any repositioning, the 7.5% federal excise tax on domestic US flights, segment fees, and the landing, handling, crew and overnight costs known when we quote. De-icing, catering and Wi-Fi are listed when they apply, so the number you approve is the number you pay unless the trip changes.

Why does a one-way flight sometimes cost nearly as much as a round trip?

The aircraft usually has to fly back to base, or come to you, without passengers, and those repositioning hours are part of the price. Empty legs are the exception: discounted one-way flights on a fixed route and time, which can be cancelled if the original trip changes.

Are the prices on this site quotes?

No. Hourly figures and flight times on this site are estimates to help you plan. Your quote is calculated for your exact route, dates and aircraft.

Safety

How do you check an operator?

We confirm the air carrier certificate, that the proposed aircraft is listed on it, the operator's third-party audit status, its insurance and its crew qualifications. Options that fall short never reach your quote. The full standard is on How we vet operators.

What do ARGUS, Wyvern and IS-BAO mean?

They are voluntary third-party safety audits that go beyond the FAA minimum. ARGUS rates operators Gold, Gold+ or Platinum; Wyvern lists operators meeting its Wingman standard; IS-BAO registers operators in stages 1 to 3. Our audit guide explains each.

What happens if the aircraft has a problem before my trip?

Your charter agreement sets out the operator's obligations. We look for a replacement aircraft that meets the same standard, and credits or refunds follow the terms of the agreement.

On the day

Can I bring my dog?

Many operators accept dogs and cats in the cabin once they have approved the trip. Tell us the size and number of pets in your request, and check the entry rules if you are flying abroad.

When should I arrive at the airport?

Usually 20 to 30 minutes before departure at the private terminal (FBO), a little earlier for international flights. Your itinerary lists the terminal and the crew details before the trip.

What should I bring?

Government-issued photo ID for domestic flights, and passports and any visas abroad. Tell us about large bags, skis or golf clubs in advance so the operator can plan weight and space.
